The culture of Colombia is the product of racial mixture of Native Americans, of white European, especially coming from Spain, and Africans brought by the conquerors.
The result of the mix was a multiethnic country with different cultures and different features according to each region. In the Andean region predominantly indigenous and European heritage, while the Caribbean region is characterized by a mix last Indian, European and African. The region that overlooks the Pacific Ocean is characterized by pure black and indigenous cultures.
Undoubtedly, this variety of cultures leads to a wealth of traditions, which is expressed both in art and in crafts, architecture, painting, cinema and photography.
According to statistics, Colombia has 87 indigenous peoples who use any of the 64 native languages. On the other hand, has several million Colombians, more than 30 million whites and mestizos, twelve thousand gypsies, and a great number of immigrants from different places. No doubt, we could speak of a melting pot that gets to live in harmony respecting traditions.This mixing is complex expression not only in the traditions, crafts and Colombian cuisine, but also in the arts from architecture, painting and sculpture to literature, film and photography, through music, dance and theater.
Colombia is home to more than 87 indigenous peoples using 64 native languages from 22 linguistic families also several million Colombians, more than 30 million mestizos 12 thousand Gypsies and immigrants nuclei in different regions. In the archipelago of San Andres and Providencia, mostly native islander population speaks English.
As a result of geographical isolation and difficulty of access between different regions of the country, were developed with the passage of time very distinctive and varied sub-culturally.
